its a NEW YEAR!
Its a new year. What I want is to be healthy. Fit and in great shape as I can. My family has a problem with their weight. Most people in my family have diabeties or something that is very bad for you. I think they have this because my family does not exercise enough and eat as best as they can. The weight problem is past by generation to generation. I want to prove to my family we will be healthy and that we cant be fit. We don't just have to sit around all day and take pills for what we did to our self's. So what my resolution is to exercise and eat healthy as much as I can. I don't want to turn out like my family did i want to have a future like one of my brothers did. Hes fit, healthy and went to college. He sent a message that we can do it. I want to do the same. That's my new year resolution.
I, Too
Well my poem is I, Too by Langston Hughes. This poem is very deep but in so little words. What I think he is talking about is that he is black, everyone underestimates him. People think that he will just be dumb and embarrass them in front of guest. So what do they do about it? All they do is send him to the kitchen. To eat by him self. then he says that he will eat at the table and he will prove to them that that he is a gentleman. That he is not dumb. he is a beautiful person and no one will treat him like the way they do because he is apart of America like everyone else is. I hope to read this poem like he would. Like if he were to be watching me and he would be proud of me. I want to say it with so much emotion and say it loud and proud.
On poetry out loud there are many meaningless poems. There are funny ones, sad, depressing, happy, ect. I picked one that meant something real. It really came from the heart. Its him expressing his feelings. This poem really connects to me life because I have 4 older brothers that are African American and they take racism and name calling very serous because of their skin color and they have been through it all when they were younger. I look up to them very much. So I thought that i would read this poem in honor of my brothers.
